My name is Derek McAdams, I’m 42 years old, married, and have 2 children, a 13 year boy, and a 7 year old girl. My family and I moved here to Virginia from California in January, 2004. I’m the equal opportunity advisor for Commander, DDG Class Squadron/Common Support Directorate. In my spare time I like to read and go fishing, or even swimming at the beach. I usually like to get to know people, but it takes me a little while to kind of warm up to someone, unless we happen to be doing another pass time of mine: smoking. I meet most of the people I associate with in the smoke pit, where there’s usually a lot of casual conversation.
I came to ECPI because I wanted to get my associates degree in Networking & Security Management. Although I don’t have much of a background in this field, I’m hoping to learn as much as I can about it, including some of the certifications offered.
I’m very excited, (as well as a little nervous), about going to school again, I mean, except for going to DEOMI, (Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, in which I was Temporarily assigned), going to school while at the same time being with my family will prove to be a real challenge.
